Water is desperate for most of the year for the 271 people community of Gongo, in the Wechiau District of Wa West, North Ghana. The normal river runs dry for most of the year the only water can be found by digging sump holes into the dry river bed.

The river when in flow is the home of crocodiles which return to present addition risk to the community. When searching for water, snake bites are a regular feature and danger. The water is always contaminated as it is used by animals, wild and domestic. Having water that is not safe to collect and use could be addressed with the provision of a safe water borehole.

This would reduce the risks and improve health within the community which suffers from Cholera and other known water borne diseases. Because of these issues children are missing a lot of their school education.

Ghana Outlook has identified this community as being in need of a safe water borehole as soon as we can provide it. The community of Gongo have set up a working party to help where they can and manage the project and maintain the much needed bore hole when completed.

Please, if you can help us to provide it and together we can change the lives of the people of Gongo.
