Safe water borehole for Kuodundule

Ghana Outlook is pleased to announce the successful completion of a safe water borehole for the community of Kuodundule. This is a farming community of 450 in population and where unsafe water was the only source. In addition to the associated health hazards of drinking unsafe water, the long dry seasons disrupted family life every year because during the long dry seasons the able men and women travel to the cities to try and find work and only return when the rainy season starts so that they can commence farming the land. Work in the cities often means very long days with very little pay.

The community relied on three dugouts as their main source of water which was shared by domestic and wild animals. As each dugout dries out it means further distances to find water up to five times a day.

The chief expressed on behalf of its community members their gratitude to Ghana Outlook, REDO and its supports for making their dream come true. The borehole management committee was inaugurated, and they were trained on how to manage and repair the borehole. Simple maintenance routines like greasing and change of bolts and nuts were shared with the committee.
